Dental Emergencies

Please note that it is currently only possible to use our online booking system to make appointments for emergency care at our Woden rooms. If you’d prefer another location, please call that practice directly, or use the appointment request form on this page.

Dental Emergencies sometimes happen, and we make every effort to accommodate our patients in their time of need. If you have a dental emergency, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can assist you. We provide priority appointments to patients in pain.

What To Do In The Case Of An After-Hours Dental Emergency

Canberra does not currently have an After-Hours Emergency Dentist Roster.

If you do have a dental emergency after-hours, especially one involving swelling, intense pain or a tooth that has been knocked out or displaced as a result of an accident, please attend your nearest public hospital as soon as you can. The Canberra Hospital has an emergency dentist on call, to assist with severe dental emergencies, including traumatic injuries to the teeth and gums.

Most dental emergencies involving toothaches cannot be treated at the hospital, other than the prescription of appropriate painkillers. An appointment with CALMS (Canberra After-hours Locum Medical Service) may be necessary to have the appropriate strong analgesics prescribed. If you do experience toothache during the weekend or public holidays and need to be seen by CALMS, please also leave a message at our rooms so that we can make an appointment for you early the following week.
